Located in Nassau County, New York, Valley Stream is a found along the border of Queens in the town of Hempstead. As of 2010, the population was approximately 37,500. The history of Valley Stream dates back to 1640, which was the year that the Dutch West India Company purchased the land from Rockaway Native Americans, but no development was made to the woodland until the mid-1800s. There are several elementary school districts that serve the community, but high school students attend one of three schools:  Valley Stream Central, Valley Stream North, and Valley Stream South.  This village is known for being the birthplace of Snapple and the Snapple Beverage Co.

Valley Stream is home to a variety of attractions, so there is something for everyone in this village. The Green Acres Mall is a shopping hotspot in the area, and Sunrise Multiplex Cinemas offers all of the most popular movies. The North Woodmere Golf Course that is found in the village offers golf enthusiasts the chance to hit the driving range or to play a round. Outdoor recreation is also plentiful in Valley Stream, as Valley Stream State Park, the Valley Stream Dog Park, and Firemen’s Memorial Park are all located here.

The area is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean while also being shielded by the Appalachian Mountains. Summers are humid, wet, and hot, while winters are usually mild compared to other areas of the state. On average, the community receives 44 inches of precipitation throughout the year.
