About Malverne, NY - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
With a population of roughly 8,500 residents, Malverne is one of the smallest villages found within Nassau County. Originally settled by the Rockaway Indians, Western settlements were first developed in the area in the 1790s. The village was originally known as Norwood, but it was renamed when it was found that there was already a Village of Norwood in the northern portion of the state. Malverene was incorporated in 1921, and it takes up roughly one square mile of total area, all of which consists of land.
One of the most popular events in this village is the annual Lighting of Malverene. This holiday celebration is held the first Saturday of December, and it features a parade that follows Hempstead Avenue. Thousands of people form the community and surrounding counties attend, and the business district remains dark until the Mayor flips a switch to illuminate the community with holiday lights.
As a small community, Malverne is only home to a few attractions that might appeal to area visitors or residents. The Malverne Cinema 4 offers some of the newest movies, and hunting enthusiasts may enjoy booking a tour with Meadow Island Outfitters. Specialty stores found in the area include Julie Designs, Malverne Bagels, and Malverne Floral Designs.
Malverne residents will enjoy four distinct seasons throughout the course of year as part of a humid subtropical climate zone. For the most part, the area is shielded by the Appalachian Mountains while also being influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, so conditions are milder than the north and western suburbs of New York City. Summers are humid, hot, and wet, while winters are usually cold with some snow. On average, the community receives over 40 inches of precipitation throughout the year, and it is distributed evenly throughout the four seasons. The variable weather conditions of the Malverne area make it essential for homeowners to invest in an air conditioning unit as well as a home furnace or heat pump.
